Eric Haugen - Owner/Principal Designer

Eric Haugen, owner and principal designer for Luminous Design Studios, comes from a rich traditional theatrical background.  Since receiving a masters degree in Lighting Design from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1991, Eric has designed professionally for theatre, dance, broadcast television, architecture, corporate theatre, and themed entertainment both nationally and internationally.

Eric's lighting designs have been seen in New York's Off and Off-Off Broadway theatre, regional and stock theatres up and down the east coast, and internationally in such diverse places as Singapore, Bangkok, Santiago, Prague, and Taipei.  From 1996 through 1998, Eric was a staff lighting designer for ITEC Productions, a themed entertainment design company based in Orlando, FL.  While on staff with ITEC, Eric created lighting environments for many diverse attractions.  These attractions range in style from Macy's Santaland at Macy's flagship store in New York City to The St. Michael Mystery in Prague to the National Science Center in Augusta, GA.

After leaving ITEC Productions in February of 1998, Eric went back to the freelance world of design, where he designed for clients such as Disney Business Productions and Disney Event Productions.  In November of 1998, Eric decided to incorporate his talents, and formed a company known as Light Techniques, Inc.  Light Techniques designed for a diverse client base of themed entertainment and corporate theatre.  Among many others, clients included Fugleberg Koch Architects / Group One Productions, The Producers/ ShowGear, and Overland Entertainment.

After 10 years with Light Techniques, in 2008 Eric formed a partnership with FX Design Group to light for broadcast television and FX Lighting was born.  FX Lighting clients included such national studios as The Golf Channel, The Speed Channel, and Meredith Broadcasting  as well as numerous network affiliate news stations.

Luminous Design Studios was born in the spring of 2010 and through his new company, Eric continues to provides lighting design services for Architecure, Themed Entertainment, Broadcast Television, Live Events, and Theatrical Productions.  Clients and projects have included The Republican National Convention, The Democratic National Convention, Mitt Romney for President, The Tupperware Corporation, Titanic Museum and Attraction, The Nerdel Company, and numerous local television stations and theatrical projects.
